Details Matter to God

Leviticus 14:54–57 (HCSB)

"This is the law for any skin disease or mildew, for a scaly outbreak, for mildew in clothing or on a house, and for a swelling, scab, or spot, to determine when something is unclean or clean. This is the law regarding skin disease and mildew."

You’ve heard it said: “The devil is in the details.” Well, this we can know from Leviticus: details matter to God!

There are two whole chapters of the Bible devoted to skin diseases and mildew infestations. These are chapters that only a doctor of scientist could really love. But they’re here—and God obviously cares a lot about these things. Maybe we should ask ourselves “Why?”

The obvious answer that God cares about infectious diseases and things that can potentially harm us is because He cares about us. These things can spread through the company of His people do harm. God cares about us and every tiny detail that affects us. He wants us to be holy in our spirit, healthy in our body, and happy in our soul. He cares about the quality of our lives. If you think about this it is truly amazing. Other “gods” cared very little about their followers. They placed very little value on their subjects. But the true God places such profound value on us that even gives minute attention to the smallest details of our lives. Remember, it is the little details that can make us or break us.

Attention to detail—that is God’s way.
